On 31.05. and 01.06.2019 abbot Markus has inaugurated the new library in the context of a ceremony, in the presence of the provincial governments of South Tyrol and Tyrol, the public offices, the Sparkasse Foundation, the abbots of Muri Gries and Neustift, and the Goswin Association, many patrons and convent of Marienberg.
On Sunday, June 2nd, the new library was open to the public. About 400 visitors took advantage of this open day. Visitors from Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Tenerife were among the numerous local guests, who were accompanied in small groups through the premises.
After 5 years of construction and digitalization of the extensive book inventory (2012-2017) by the EHB (collection of historical libraries), now have more than 100,000 books in the new premises found room. In addition, there is still room for about 50,000 books.
In the future, books from the library can be viewed every Wednesday and Thursday from 2 to 5 pm in the dedicated reading room in the former church of Ägidius. The exact date will be announced.
